Matt paint is very special, and you want to treat it differently.  Most products are designed to make paint shine more and be smoother, which is exactly what you don't want on matt paint, don't ever polish it and only use matt specific products.

The reason you see matte paint as matte is that it is intentionally rough, which makes light bounce off it at different angles.  You can't polish matte paint as to do so would make it flat and smooth, and it would then be gloss and shiny, not matte.  

This makes it very important to use the right products and to take steps to reduce scratches like using a reef style wash mitt, 2 buckets with mitt slides or dirt traps and a soft deep thread drying towel (we recommend the Performer).  

It is safe to use matte wash on gloss surfaces but not the other way around.  So if you have a gloss car with matte strips, you can wash the whole car with matte wash.
